I walked away and went on vacation with my family and friends. I know it SEEMS like it’s not a big deal, but it totally is. Since owning Misty Saves the Day, I’ve only been on vacation once – and it was just for a weekend. I haven’t ever taken a full week off, and I’m calling 5 days a full week. The beauty of a Massanutten vacation is that there is so much to do. We didn’t do anything crazy. Driving through the mountains, we went on hikes, we fed animals at a drive-thru safari, we saw epic overlooks and mountain views. We attempted to go to the most crowded pool on the resort.
Chris & I discovered some awesome things about our kids: Piper is way funnier than we realized. Wren loves her routine, and hates to be out of it – so that means that she may hate vacation. She didn’t like to travel, she loved to be outside and have picnics and hike. I think Wren would rather spend all day every day on the swings at the park.

I’m not going to lie – I’m sad that vacation is over. I wish that we could have stayed in those mountains forever. I’m not a hiker and I’m not outdoorsy, but there’s something freeing about staying in a tiny apartment with no cell service and horrible internet connection. I’m back to work now, and back to real life – but I had a blast. Thanks to schedulers, amazing employees, and using my phone as a hotspot to answer emails when I could (but never for more than 30 minutes a day), I was able to ACTUALLY take time off with my family and friends. It was pretty fantastic.
I’ve never been more grateful for 17Hats for getting me organized before I left, so that I could make sure that everything that NEEDED to be done was done before I walked away. I’m also super stoked that I have a super organized to do list for launching back into work mode.
Special thanks to Chris’ aunt Becky for making our Massanutten vacation possible, and to our awesome friends for coming along on the ride. Another special thanks to Crystal Salazar from Cherry Blossom Planning Factory for setting me up with 17Hats just in time.
